Out of 24 municipalities in Montenegro, as many as 21 registered a negative natural increase in the first five months. In that period, only in Budva, Podgorica and Rozaje, the number of births was higher than the number of deaths, according to the latest preliminary data from the MONSTAT Statistical Office. According to statistical data, there is a higher number of births and deaths of males than females.
From the beginning of January to the end of May this year, 2,712 babies were born in Montenegro (1,391 boys and 1,321 girls). In the same period, 4,076 citizens died (2,231 men and 1,845 women). This means that the number of deaths is even 1,364 higher than the number of births.
