Ristic: Another €5m must be pumped into Air Montenegro by May

Air Montenegro

The state will have to allocate another €5m to Air Montenegro by the end of May next year in order to be ready for the pre-season, season and post-season 2022, says the former director of Montenegro Airlines (MA) Vlastimir Ristic in an interview for the regional air portal Zamaaero.

“In my opinion, Air Montenegro will not be able to make an accumulation to get through the winter.

There is only one operational plane. The season uses a wet lease plane. It is expensive and kills profits. I think that €5m will have to be additionally allocated for Air Montenegro by the end of May, but even that will be far from the former MA transport results”, says Ristic.

He points out that the state will have to finance Air Montenegro.

He claims that no national airline of small countries (including all countries of the former Yugoslavia) can be profitable, but also that this should not be the goal.

“The company must be rational, not profitable”, Ristic points out.

He stresses that it means entrepreneurially organized, modestly and expertly led, with good salaries of employees – primarily flight and technical staff, but also management.
