Do you trust Minister: IMF denies Spajic

Milojko Spajić

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) lowered the estimate of the growth of the Montenegrin economy to 7% in the latest October forecasts, the media report. Thus, this institution has denied Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajic who has recently stated that according to the estimates of the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare, GDP growth is expected to be around 13% this year. It is not yet known what methodology Minister Spajic used to reach 13%, which is almost twice as much as the IMF estimates, but it is obvious that Spajic’s optimism has no basis in reality, because the latest World Bank estimates are around 10.8%.

It’s recalled that in April, the IMF forecast was that the recovery of the economy in Montenegro this year would be 9%. At the time, Minister Spajic took to Twitter, claiming that the assessment “means that the IMF believes in the Government’s path”. Whether the latest projections mean that the IMF has lost that trust, Spajic has not tweeted yet.
