“The law on the origin of property is very clear and unambiguous. This is a systemic law that will contribute to the fight against organized crime and corruption. This is the first law of this kind, with the aim of ending the illegal enrichment of officials, criminals, mobsters, employees or citizens who acquired it contrary to legal norms and the Constitution of Montenegro”, DPM Dritan Abazovic has stated at a press conference on the presentation of seizure of illegal origin, as a contribution to the opening and quality of public debate. It has been stated at the press conference that this is the law against property, not people. So, Abazovic explains, if you drive a Ferrari or an armored vehicle, someone can tell you – “you are a criminal”, but there is not enough evidence to prove that; but if that person cannot prove that he/she really made money for that car or apartment, house, it will become the property of Montenegro”.
In some parts of the world, such laws are called anti-mafia laws, Abazovic points out.
Abazovic says he expects the support of 81 MPs once the law is sent to the Parliament of Montenegro.
