An arrangement with the IMF is not an option for this year, says Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanovic. For the missing money, as previously announced, the state will try to borrow funds from domestic banks, and whether Montenegro will be forced to ask for help from the IMF in 2023 will depend on the outcome of the energy crisis and other economic conditions in the world and in our country.
He adds that when it comes to the next year, Montenegro will monitor the situation.
“Some more serious disturbances would only make us cautious, make us be like a member of the IMF and the World Bank with rights and obligations, be close and discuss all possible arrangements. They are not the only inevitable loan support”, explains Damjanovic.
