Good morning! Since the local elections and the dismissal of Rasko and Ranko, SDP is almost absent from the public. Where are they, what are they doing, any rumours? Protests scheduled for tomorrow in Podgorica, with the support of the sovereignist parties; incidents at the polling stations in Savnik.

Has anyone seen SDP?
SDP marketed its participation in coalitions with DPS throughout Montenegro very well. They did not appear much in the campaign and campaigns, but they reaped the benefits of good places on the lists. There were various combinations in coalitions. It was interesting to observe how in Bar, for example, SD participated in the elections independently, and SDP in a coalition with DPS.
I am saying that SDP was not directly involved in the campaign, but Rasko and Ranko, as ministers, worked as hard as they could to destabilize the government of Dritan Abazovic. Unfortunately, not completely successful, but they should be given a ten for their effort.
I don’t know what it is, whether it is due to Rasko and Ranko’s post-ministerial depression, or if it is a matter of the “let’s hide until it passes” tactic, but SDP rarely speaks out regarding any issue in public. Draginja was active during the first spontaneous protests, but she always bypasses the party and does not care much for party discipline.
SDP has great potential to be the pivot of the gathering of sovereignists. Rasko and Ranko have experience and do not lack patriotism. However, they lack courage and are quite compromised and worn out by their participation in government in recent years. Draginja is energetic and loved by the masses, but she missed her chance to prove herself as party leader. I believe that the party needs to think carefully about who will lead it and how in the coming period, as well as how to choose a new person among the middle-aged generation of leaders. Someone with energy, charisma and courage.
Where next cousin?
All the time I’m thinking about the protests, a piece of Azra’s song Tko To Tamo Pjeva (Who is Singing There) rings in my head:
“It will be better cousin
take off the medals and fill the halls
trophy street is running out of strength”.
After two spontaneous gatherings, large protests are scheduled for tomorrow in Podgorica, with the support of the sovereignist parties. The protest was officially reported through the Forum of Free Citizens Lucac, led by Nebojsa Mrvaljevic from Niksic. It still seems as if the sovereignist bloc parties were reluctantly pushed into this, and are calling for people to come together because of public pressure. They are rightly criticized for not wanting to take more direct involvement and for leaders to take over the organization and be accountable for it.
For strength, but also for the psychological effect, it is very important for the sovereignist bloc that tomorrow’s protest succeeds. After the debacle in the local elections, the sovereigntists have been executed and they need support and something to rally around and mobilize support. I am not sure that the Law on the President and the defense of the Constitution is something that resonates enough with the public, but we will see. It is important to maintain protest condition.
Incidents in Savnik
Even yesterday, the elections in Savnik could not pass without incidents. A member of the electoral committee from DF got the short end of the stick when he was attacked by people whom he did not allow to vote, even though they were registered in the voter’s list. The police responded and immediately arrested the attackers.
That’s it for today. We wish you a pleasant rest of the day.
Kind regards,
