Unlawful actions of Vesna Bratic come to light: First-instance verdicts for 50 head teachers

Vesna Bratić

So far, eight head teachers dismissed by the former Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Vesna Bratic, have proved that they were sacked in defiance of all regulations, Pobjeda daily writes.

According to data of the Defender of Property and Legal Interests of Montenegro, Bojana Cirovic, a total of 50 head teachers got a first-instance verdict and are waiting for the opinion of the High Court.

“Costs of the litigious matters by both the first and second instance verdicts amount to €26.592,” Ms Cirovic told Pobjeda.

There weren’t any non-litigious matters. The Defender held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Education, underlining that there was a need to solve the future matters excluding courts. “The ministry is now supposed to inform the government about the status of disputes and the need to have them solved outside courts in order to avoid additional expenses.”

Around 16o head teachers initiated a legal battle after the ex-minister Bratic dismissed them last year. Experts were saying that it was obvious the lady-minister fired them because they had been appointed by the previous government.

Meanwhile, lawyer, Mihailo Volkov, being a legal representative of 107 head teachers, recently filed a criminal charge to the Special State Prosecutor’s Office against the former minister Bratic on suspicion of committing a criminal offence – misuse of office.
