An avalanche of comments was sparked yesterday by the announcement of outgoing PM Dritan Abazovic that Montenegro will develop a space program. After these reactions, CdM spoke to the creators of the Montenegrin satellite Luca (Light), which still cannot be launched because Montenegro currently does not have a law regulating this type of satellite. That is why Abazovic received three young innovators yesterday and promised that the Government would help Luca go into orbit. CdM has already reported about this pioneering project for Montenegro. The satellite was developed by the organization Montenegro Space Research, whose founders are Nikola Perovic – the project leader and chief engineer, Nina Drakulic – a telecommunications engineer, and Filip Jovicevic, who is from the world of business and economics, and his position in the company is COO (Chief Operating Officer).
The lack of legal regulations and the impossibility of registering the Lucac satellite connected the Government and young Montenegrin innovators.
Perovic says in an interview for CdM that his team is optimistic after the meeting with the Prime Minister, stressing that they went there with the intention of pointing out administrative problems, because Montenegro does not have a law for registering satellites.
He points out that they still have work to do in order for Luca to be ready for launch.
After the meeting with Abazovic, Jovicevic also posted on Instagram, referring to Abazovic’s announcement as a historic event for Montenegro.
After the stormy reactions on social networks to the announcement of the launch of the space program, Abazovic also spoke out and stated that he hoped that Luca would be launched into orbit the following year.
