The Police Directorate has announced today that the security measures for the former president of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, have been increased for preventive reasons, after it was announced yesterday that he had been informed that an assassination was being planned against him. The competent prosecutor’s office has formed a case.
In today’s statement, the Police Directorate states that some media have announced that a media outlet from was informed by Djukanovic’s office that he had informed Montenegrin authorities about having received information that an assassination was being planned against him.
“The Police Directorate announced in its previous address that the former President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, as well as ‘certain international officials from the intelligence community’ did not inform the Police Directorate of Montenegro ‘that an organized criminal group from a neighbouring country is allegedly planning to carry out an assassination, in conjunction with the security services of another neighbouring country”, the police has pointed out.
After that, unofficial information was published that the National Security Agency had been informed about this.
Today, the Police Directorate reacted on that occasion.
They state that immediately upon receiving the information, measures and actions were taken within the jurisdiction of the police, including notifying the competent prosecutor’s office, and that a case was opened in relation to that.
They add that the Police, the Prosecutor’s Office and the National Security Agency are taking further measures and actions within their jurisdictions in a synchronized manner.
