Urosevic: PES won’t form government with DPS in Niksic, it should have been stated more clearly in the campaign

Uglješa Urošević

Ugljesa Urosevic, Europe Now Movement (PES) MP, firmly stated that PES will not form a local government in Niksic with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS). He emphasized that DPS, associated with former President Milo Djukanovic, will remain in opposition and will not return to power in the city.

Urosevic criticized DPS for spreading propaganda and accused the party of continuing to be informally led by Djukanovic, whom he links to past criminal structures and economic mismanagement. He warned that a DPS win would signal a regression to the pre-2020 political climate.

Dismissing speculation about potential cooperation between PES, DPS, and pro-European forces, Urosevic said PES voters should be clear that there will be no alliance with the former ruling party. He predicted that DPS would not exceed 25% of the vote and argued that a vote for DPS is ineffective, as the party lacks credibility with international partners and a genuine commitment to Western values.

On whether Djukanovic might run in future presidential elections, Urosevic remarked that such a move would ensure another loss for him. Regarding internal disagreements within PES—such as colleague Darko Dragovic’s opposition to supporting Marko Kovacevic for mayor—Urosevic downplayed the issue, saying it was a personal opinion and not representative of the party’s stance.
