At today’s session of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee, Dusko Markovic – former Prime Minister of Montenegro, former Minister of Justice, and former Director of the National Security Agency – spoke about the role of state authorities in political assassinations and attacks on journalists and intellectuals. He stated that he had proposed security protection for Dusko Jovanovic, editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Dan, to the then Minister of the Interior, Andrija Jovicevic.
Markovic also alleged that the criminal underworld from Serbia and the Serb Republic was behind the murder of Darko Raspopovic, known as Beli, a high-ranking official of Montenegro’s former State Security Service.
By majority vote, the Inquiry Committee accepted a proposal by Milan Knezevic, MP from the Democratic People’s Party (DNP), to summon Milan Paunovic, a senior official of the Ministry of Interior, to the next session. He is expected to share information relevant to the Committee’s investigation into the actions of state institutions concerning political killings and attacks on journalists and intellectuals.
The public will be informed in due course about the date of the Committee’s next session.
