These are changes in Montenegrin police

The decision of the Ministry of Interior to appoint Enis Bakovic, who worked as a basic state prosecutor until recently, as the head of the criminal police unit is logical, criminologist and the dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Montenegro, Velimir Veljo Rakocevic, told CdM.

“The head of the criminal police unit has to be the best investigator. He has been perfectly versed in Criminal Justice and Criminology. So, a person who used to work in the prosecutor’s office is more appropriate solution than all other professions. Prosecutors the nearest to police because they are on the same task of identifying and prosecuting crimes,” said Rakocevic.

The new commander of the Special Police Unit is Veselin Magovcevic, new chief of the Bar Police Department is Drago Spicanovic, whereas the new Chief of Kotor Security Unit is Marko Radusinovic.

Rakocevic believes that the Police Directorate made a good “scan” of both positions and the people who are expected to give concrete answers to the “security challenges” Montenegro faces with.

When it comes to Podgorica Police Unit, Sinisa Stojkovic has been dismissed from the position of the head of the criminal police. Podgorica Police Chief Jovica Recevic will decide who will replace Stojkovic. Until them, Recevic will cover that position.

These changes happened after the chief of the Police Directorate’s criminal unit Milovan Pavicevic and assistant director of securing persons and facilities Predrag Asanin had resigned.

The Interior Ministry and the Police Directorate explained the staff changes by the fact that the fight against organized crime requires certain reforms in terms of organisation as well as the strengthening of staff potential. This decision, as they explained, is in accordance with the conclusions of the Council for National Security.
