Speaking on a morning TV show aired on TVCG, the EU Ambassador to Montenegro, Johann Sattler, said he hoped the forthcoming Intergovernmental Conference scheduled for 16 December in Brussels would be a successful day for Montenegro. He also noted he was ready to talk to Botun residents.
As he added, 2025 had been a successful year for Montenegro’s European path.
“There’s still a lot of work to be done. Don’t slow down – that’s my message.”
Commenting on the referendum in Zeta, he stressed that he was pleased people were discussing the issue of the wastewater treatment facility and broader environmental challenges.
“Perhaps it should have happened earlier, but it’s good that we’re talking about it now. It’s important that we listen to each other. I want to listen to citizens, it’s very important. The Botun residents haven’t been heard for a long time. We are also monitoring the red mud issue, it’s a crucial issue and more than €30 million has been allocated to address it. I believe the Botun matter will also be resolved successfully,” said Mr Sattler, adding that a strict, punitive policy should be carried out when it comes to violations of environmental protection rules.
