Mandic on his driver’s arrest: Every stick has two ends

Podgorica police arrested Mihailo Cadjenovic, the driver of the Democratic Front leader Andrija Mandic, on Tuesday morning. He was arrested upon the order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, but it did not announce the reasons.

However, the media had earlier reported that the Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnic questioned Cadjenovic on late January. The hearing was held after the former Serbian intelligence officer Slavko Nikic brought Andrija Mandic in connection with the attempted coup in Montenegro on election day on 16 October 2016.

DF Presidency called on the Supreme State Prosecutor Ivica Stankovic to dismiss Katnic due to Cadjenovic’s arrest.

“Every stick has two ends… For every lost head in DF, someone else’s head will be lost too,” Mandic threatened.

“There are no even misdemeanour charges in Cadjenovic’s biography. He has been arrested to fabricate a new indictment against DF, because it is obvious that the alleged coup from the last autumn failed. Now, they are creating a new setup. We know that Katnic does this because of the upcoming local elections in Niksic and national referendum on NATO and after our strong international activities from Moscow to Washington,” Mandic said at an extraordinary press conference at NOVA’s headquarters in Podgorica.

Cadjenovic’s mother Milka accompanied DF leaders at the press conference.

“My son still does not have a single stain in his biography. If he was a criminal, I would stay silent. But I am a proud mother. His only fault is the fact that he is a Serb,” she said.
