DPS proposes open electoral lists

The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) has proposed changes to election laws after the electoral reform committee failed to deliver results. Their proposal introduces open candidate lists, allowing voters to choose a party list and also vote for specific candidates within it (up to 10 in parliamentary and 5 in local elections).

The plan also includes a 40% quota for the underrepresented gender in winnable positions on lists. DPS says the proposal will go through public debate and is inviting opposition parties and other stakeholders to contribute, aiming for broader electoral reform.
