We promise we will wear our uniforms with honour and dignity and do everything we can to make it recognisable to the highest standards of military knowledge and behaviour, said lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Montenegro (VCG) Mirko Tomic at the farewell ceremony before departure for the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan.
The sixth VCG contingent departed on Monday from the airport in Golubovci. Members of the contingent were addressed by defence minister Predrag Boskovic and the contingent commander, lieutenant Mirko Tomic.

With best wishes to perform their tasks in the mission honourably and responsibly, the minister called in mind Montenegro rich experience in peacekeeping missions, which dates back in the reign of King Nikola.
He said that the participating in the missions represented immeasurable experience in terms of training and educating Montenegrin troops and improving their skills.
Lieutenant Tomic said that was a great honour for the contingent members and an obligation to justify the trust, particularly because their predecessors, had not only paved a wide path, but also set high standards to be pursued.
He promised that his contingent would do its best present Montenegro and its citizens and the armed forces in the best possible way.

The contingent consists of 18 members, including the first female VCG member in a mission abroad, the conductor Snezana Korac from the troop engineering department. So far, the women went to the missions only as medical technicians.
