Hard to expect immaculate results with no proper work conditions

It is hard to insist on immaculate results all the while prosecutors share offices and hold hearings by shifts, they said in the Prosecution.

„Bad spatial capacities are no news, but they cannot be an excuse, because they do influence the process”, said Supreme State Prosecutor Ivica Stankovic for Pobjeda daily.

He said that every day you can hear different statements on the work of the Prosecution, but almost no one wonders about the work conditions.

Between the situation and the expectations

„Supreme State Prosecution, Special State Prosecution, High State Prosecution and Secretariat of Council of Prosecution are all in the same building. Prosecutors share offices and have to wait in shifts in order to hold hearings”, Stankovic said.

He said that it would be good if we compared prosecutions in Zagreb, Belgrade and Podgorica.

„It would speak for itself. Only in Montenegro you can meet in the same hall representatives on an international delegation and suspects brought to hearings. Maybe it sounds funny, but these are real situations that are often inappropriate. While aware of these conditions, I do not allow them to become an excuse for lack of results”, Stankovic said.

Matter of decision

He believes that proper technical support and space can improve the work of the Prosecution.

„In order to improve our conditions we need financial support, and I hope decision-makers keep us in mind”, Stankovic said.

Stankovic commented on the announcements about building a palace of justice that would gather all important institutions of legal system, saying that would be a good idea and happy news for the Prosecution.
