Democratic Party of Socialists DPS is an absolute winner of local elections in Niksic, not only in numbers, but morally as well, they stated in this party.
DPS said that oppositions’ statement that boycott succeeded because “not even 50% of voters voted” is false, adding that there are no cases in the world that 100% of voters use their right to vote.
„Last year on parliamentary elections, 80% of Niksic voter body used their right to vote. In comparison with that percentage, we had a voter turnout of 53% yesterday. 90% of them voted DPS”, they said in this party.
26.304 Niksic citizens out of 58.486 registered voters voted on Sunday. 21.104 of them voted DPS.
According to DPS, opposition is well aware that their mathematics cannot save them from this defeat.
„In any case, zero votes and mandates were given to opposition in Niksic yesterday”, they said in DPS.
Opposition has a custom of announcing victory even when they do not take part in elections.
„They are well aware that Niksic did not accept the boycott, the citizens did not accept their political blackmail”, the statement reads.
Opposition did not lose to DPS – they were defeated by the citizens who did not want to support their destructive policies.
DPS thanked citizens of Niksic for voting and demonstrating that boycott is not a democratic solution. They confirmed the legitimacy of elections and ensured that their city remains on integration path.
