Slovenian Adria Airways will buy out Montenegro Airlines by the end of this year, claims aviation analyst Alen Scuric, as reported by the Aviation portal of Serbia.
He claims that the investment fund 4K, that bought Adria Airways in March 2016, makes this acquisitions for German Lufthansa. German aviation company is attempting to clear the competition from Arabian Etihad.
“Croatia Airways is far more interesting to 4K than MA, but they can buy Montenegro Airlines cheaply and swiftly. Company is in an extremely difficult state and needs a buyer. There would be no surprise if Adria buys Montenegro Airlines soon”, Scurica.
In addition, Adria increased its flights from Ljubljana to Podgorica.
“We are talking about 134% of increase, from three to seven flights a week. In this way, they are supporting the demise of MA, which is an old and tried method that Lufthansa perfected before overtaking Brussels Airlines”, Scurica said.
He expressed hope that the Croatian ministry will start actively looking for a potential buyer for their own company. Interested parties include Qatar, Singapore, Hainan.
“These would be a better option for Croatia than Lufthansa, but if 4K, representing Lufthansa, approaches Croatia, the ministry will concede. Then, we can expect one company called Adria, with branches for Slovenia, Switzerland, Croatia and Montenegro”, Scurica believes.
