Guests from Russia spent 179.000 nights in hotels in Montenegro during the first six months of this year, said director of National Tourism Organization NTO Zeljka Radak Kukavicic for Weekend Edition of Dnevne Novine daily.
She said 13.000 guests from Russia came just last week, which is about 15% more than this time last year.
WN: According to the latest data, how many Russian guests are there in Montenegro? More or less, compared to last year?
Radak Kukavicic: We have definitively noted a growth in tourist activities this season. THere were 30.000 guests from Russia during the first 6 months of this year, which is 14% more compared to last year.
WN: Are you pleased with visits from Russia, are your expectations fulfilled?
Radak Kukavicic: Montenegro remains a favorite destination for Russian tourists. They seem to be pleased with our offer and they always return. Media campaigns in Russian media did not seem to influence their decisions regarding destinations for vacation.
NTO presented our offer on international tourism fairs in Moscow and St Petersburg, and there was a lot of interests from tourist agencies and citizens.
WN: What is the situation with agencies in Russia? Do tourists come to Montenegro using their arrangements or individual ones?
Radak Kukavicic: According to our information, a large number of Russian tourists comes using agency services. Those who have real estate in Montenegro come on their own, mostly.
R tours agency data shows that the interest from Russia almost doubled compared to last year. Many airline companies have charter flights that fly from Russia to Montenegro from March until October.
