Simovic: Government’s support gives results in agriculture

Vice prime minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simovic visited Bijelo Polje today and presented the results of three public calls for support to Montenegrin agricultural producers in the field of livestock. 2.6 million euros will be invested through these tenders, of which 1.36 million of non-refundable funds from the Ministry.

Press conference was held in agricultural center of Alickovici family in Bistrica village.

„With this approach, we want to promote the work of these farmers and agriculture as a viable business option”, Simovic said.

He said that, at the same time, this types of press conferences represent a chance to talk to the farmers, hear their suggestions.

“We should also ensure adequate support through negotiations and new projects with international institutions such as World Bank, IFAD and other partners”, Minister added.

Through projects such as mechanisation, purchase, construction and equipment, Alickovici invested over 200.000 euros in their farm, and they will receive Ministry’s support of 107.000 euros of non-refundable funds.

Simovic said that an increase has been noted in the number of users of Ministry’s support, and it is especially important that there are new people being interested in agriculture.

After administrative and terrain controls, 164 producers received approvement for investments. Most of them hail from the north of the country, while central and coastal region are represented with 29% and 4% of total applications.
