Skrelja: Members of Administrative board under pressure

President of the Administrative board of the Parliament Luidj Skrelja said to Weekend Edition of Dnevne Novine daily that this body is suffering under immense pressure after the Agency for Prevention of Corruption confirmed that certain members of the Council of RTCG were in conflict of interest and due to speak before the Board.

Skrelja underlined that the Board would not sway in its implementation of the law, regardless of the subjects. Commenting on the statement of the US Embassy in Podgorica, Skrelja said that their attitude on the political matters in our country is widely known, and that our membership in NATO is a confirmation of their opinion on Montenegro.

US Embassy wrote on their Twitter account that “they would continue to support independent and responsible media, which is a key for Montenegro and its goals of EU integration”.

“This statement is only a confirmation of US attitudes towards media freedom. However, some NGOs and media are using it as a marketing tool and a deflection from facts. The Agency for Prevention of Corruption confirmed the conflict of interest in some members of the Council of RTCG, who are chosen on the suggestion of the Administrative board. This is the essence which they are trying to hide, saying that someone is trying to cut the independence of RTCG. How can the Board do that? We have nothing to do with managers, editors or independence of the Public service. We are here to obey the law that obliges us to invite members of the Council to make statements on the facts the Agency presented, and to forward our suggestion to the Parliament. What will that statement be, no one can say at the moment, as we do not have the full documentation of the Agency and statement of the members of the Council in question”, Skrelja said.

He said that the sessions of the Administrative board were open to the public and that there was no mysterious dealings in those sessions.
