Montenegro can count on Lithuania’s support

Montenegro can count on all the necessary support of Lithuania in fulfilling the conditions for EU membership, it was stated after foreign minister Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic with his Lithuanian counterpart Linas Linkevicius.

Pejovic presented the results of the Intergovernmental Conference held recently in Brussels, where Montenegro opened 2 and 3 Chapters, as well as with the remaining chapters to be opened.

The minister pointed out that cooperation and support in opening and later closing chapters is of key importance for Montenegro during this period of pre-accession negotiations.

Linkevicius indicated the willingness of the Lithuanian side to continue with twinning and TAIEX projects and providing expert support to Montenegro, especially in the area of ​​strategic planning as a new policy of the Ministry of European Affairs.

The ministers agreed that Montenegro had to take advantage of the forthcoming Bulgarian EU presidency in the best possible way, as well as European Commission’s new strategic framework for the enlargement, as well as the summit of the European Union and the countries of the Western Balkans to be held in May in Sofia.
