Explosion in Tara weapons factory: Injured workers transported to Belgrade

A new explosion occurred at the Mojkovac-based Tara weapons factory today. Workers Maksim Vujicic and Radovan Cobeljic were seriously injured.

According to unofficial information obtained by CdM, the explosion occurred when the mixture used for production in the factory started burning.

The injured were transported to the Mojkovac Health Centre, then to the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje. Then they were urgently transported to the Clinical Centre of Montenegro (KCCG) by helicopter, only to end up in the Belgrade-based Military Medical Academy (MMA) where their treatment will be continued.

Director of the KCCG Emergency Unit, Nermin Abdic, told CdM that Vujicic and Cobelic had suffered life threatening injuries.

This is the fourth explosion that has occurred in the Tara factory since 2014.

The first one occurred in February 2014, in which one person was injured.

A couple of months later, there was also an explosion in the factory in October, and six workers were injured.

In July 2015, one worker died and seven of them were injured when an explosion occurred there.
