Chinese company exempted from paying more than €1.2m fuel excise taxes

The Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) was exempted from paying excise tax on fuel worth €1,221,901 last year, the Ministry of Finance told CdM. CRBC is the chief contractor for construction of the Bar-Boljare highway priority section.

In the first quarter of last year, the Chinese were exempted from paying €339,545.93 of fuel excise, in the 2nd quarter €402,590.56 and in the 3rd quarter €479,766.47.

“Please note that the request for the 4th quarter is submitted for the amount of €478,851.34,” the ministry said.

According to the law, CRBC has been exempted from paying €0.07 per litre of fuel.

Previously, through amendments to the law on the Bar-Boljare highway, the Government exempted the Chinese contractor and its subcontractors from paying VAT, customs duties, payroll taxes to foreign workers and income tax.
