Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism rendered a decision about the deletion of the Regional Tourism Organization from the Central Tourism Registry, acting in accordance with the requests of the municipalities of Kolašin, Mojkovac, Berane and Plav which revoked the contract on the foundation of the RTO.
Regional Tourism Organization was founded 11 years ago, at the initiative of the municipalities of Bijelo Polje, Andrijevica, Mojkovac, Kolašin and Berane with the aim of contributing to the valorization of tourism offer. These municipalities provided significant funds, believing that it is a very important project for Montenegro.
Several years ago, certain problems emerged between local administrations and the management of RTO. Due to these problems, some municipalities stopped providing funds for the organization stating that the agreement is not being respected, annual plan, financial plan, plan of information and tourism activities had not been adopted.
RTO was forbidden to work and several municipalities from the north were requested to carry out financial control in order to establish possible irregularities in the work of RTO.
Current president of the Municipality of Kolašin, Milosav Bato Bulatović, says that he is familiar with the decision of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism but still thinks that some model of the promotion of attractive potentials of the region of Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije should be found.
“Local administration of Kolašin will be an active partner in finding sustainable organization model of the promotion of attractive tourism potentials of Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije. Everything that had been started already must be continued in an appropriate organization form. It is our duty to undertake activities so that the original building in Kolašin serves for the promotion of tourism ambitions of the region of Bjelasica, Komovi and Prokletije”, says Bulatović.
