In an interview for this newspaper after a celebration of a national holiday of Swiss confederation in Lustica resort on Oblatno, Jean Daniel Ruch, non-resident ambassador in Montenegro, said that economic cooperation between Switzerland and Montenegro is modest.
Asked to comment on Montenegrin progress in European integrations, Ruch said that the first time he came to Montenegro was in 1998 as a representative of OSCE and its Office for human rights and institutions ODIHR, when they were controlling the elections.
Speaking of Lustica Bay project, he said that he really likes it not only because headquarters of Orascom company is in Switzerland, but because he loves environment and cultural heritage.
“This new resort is architecturally very similar to traditional Montenegrin architecture and I respect this very much. If I would have to point out an area where Switzerland and Montenegro are economically connected then it is this project, because we don’t have many other common points”, said Ruch.
Looking back at the project of leasing the Mamula island to company Orascom, he said that he followed discussions in Montenegrin parliament regarding this. As he said, that discussion was very healthy because in principle “people need to know what you plan to do with such an important object of historical and architectural heritage”.
