It’s not true anyone can get Montenegrin citizenship, says Medojević

Dejan Medojević

It’s not true that anyone can be granted the Montenegrin citizenship simply by purchasing real estate in Montenegro, specifically in the luxury Budva-based neighborhood Dukley Gardens, the secretary in the Development Projects Secretariat, Mr Dejan Medojević, told today while responding to certain media allegations published recently.

Mr Medojević said that the economic citizenship development program has been implemented in line with the government’s decision on the criteria, manner and ways of selecting individuals who can acquire the Montenegrin citizenship through the implementation of the investment program of significant importance for the economic interest of MNE.

The list of development projects in the area of tourism (approved by the govt) currently includes four projects:

  1. Construction of the condo hotel Kolašin Resort & Spa,
  2. Construction of the Brezna Hotel in Kolašin,
  3. Construction of the Kraljičina Plaža Hotel, in Miločer, Budva,
  4. Construction of the Durmitor Hotel and Villas in Žabljak.

It’s important to emphasize, according to Mr Medojević, that the program accepts applications only of those possessing an already-proven credibility in a personal and professional sense, as well as the fund inflow of proven legal origin.

He continued: “The procedure ensures the highest possible transparency and all the information is publicly available in accordance with applicable regulations.”
