Coal production in Montenegro last year amounted to 1.4 million tonnes (47,800 tonnes of brown coal and 1.35 million tonnes of lignite), the Monstat statistics agency reports.
“The total available coal for last year’s final consumption amounted to 54,600 tonnes, 28,000 tonnes of which were spent in industry, whereas 26,600 tonnes were spent in other sectors,” the statement says.
According to the statistics, 1.26 million tonnes of lignite were used for electricity production.
