19 people with protected persons status in Montenegro

A total of 19 people have the status of protected persons in Montenegro. Some of them have their close family members protected, and they are guarded by officers of the Special Purpose Police Sector – Personnel Security Department, Pobjeda was told by the Police Directorate (UP).

Pursuant to Article 3 of the Government’s decision on determining the persons, facilities and premises guarded by the UP, the protected persons are the President of Montenegro and the Prime Minister, as well as their immediate families.

UP officials also protect the Speaker of Parliament and the Deputy Prime Minister, as well as the Minister of the Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Justice, Human and Minority Rights.

The acting directors of the UP and the National Security Agency (ANB) are also protected persons, as well as the acting Supreme State Prosecutor and the Chief Special Prosecutor.
