The exact number of breast cancer patients in Montenegro is unknown. The Public Health Institute (IJZ) has the data on illness only since 2013, when the Registry was launched. As IJZ told Dnevne Novine, that year there was a total of 373 patients with malignant neoplasms registered. Out of them, 370 were women and three men.
On the other hand, the multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Consilium composed of surgeons, radiotherapists, chemotherapists and radiosurgery specialists at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro has been functioning since 1996.
According to Dnevne Novine, 300 newly detected patients with breast cancer are recorded annually.
