Capital overhaul of the generator A2 in the Hydro power plant “Piva”, whose worth is estimated at 2,7 million EUR, has been predicted for the current year.

“The objective of the overhaul is to harmonize the performances of the generator with the projected values and extending its lifetime for at least 20 years”, said Luka Jovanović, CEO of the Functional Entity “Electric Power Production”,  within Electric Power Industry of Montenegro (EPCG).

Besides hydro power plant “Piva”, EPCG will also revitalize generators of  “Perućica”  too.

“These investments won’t increase the quantity of generated electricity but it will rather enable more stable functioning, stronger drive of energy facilities and it will also extend the lifetime of these plants”, said Jovanović.

Extension of the lifetime depends on the capital overhaul of all seven generators with compulsory pre-isolation of all poles of the rotor which lost their isolation capacities due to 50 years of use.

Additionally, five block- transformers of 40.000 KW of amps will be replaced. The use of contemporary materials and technologies reduces losses of iron and copper.

“The objective of all these investments is to enable high performances, safety and security in the work of plants, meeting European standards as well as significant improvement of the environment”, concludes Jovanović.
