Poland believes that solely coordinated collaboration and solidarity can help the entire Europe to eliminate the adverse effects of the crisis. In this regard, the Polish government has been carrying out a range of certain activities – delivery of medical equipment and protective measures to the worst-hit countries, the Ambassador of Poland to Montenegro, Mr Artur Dmochowski, said.

What’s the situation now in Poland regarding the spread of the coronavirus? Has the worst passed?
The situation in Poland is much better than in many other European countries. Our government responded to the virus quickly and efficiently, by introducing strict limitations immediately, similar to those now in place in Montenegro. We still record infections, but the death toll is going down and is several times lower than in, for example, Germany and incomparably lower than in Spain or France.
Has the start of the outbreak affected your everyday activities?
Of course. We had to change the manner of work in the Embassy and consulates. All our employees are currently working from homes in line with the most important measure – ‘Stay at home’ and come to the Embassy only when necessary.
Do you think that unity and solidarity have proven in their hour of the coronavirus need?
I’m glad that Poland could assist in the return on Montenegro nationals to their homes. They were brought back to MNE by the special flight of the Polish carrier LOT.
Our Embassy has also organized the collection of funds among diplomats who work in Podgorica in order to help Montenegro confront the virus. Those funds were used for the purchase of medical equipment for the Clinical Centre, including special beds for the infected.

What do you think about the response of the WB countries to the coronavirus outbreak? Did they take all the necessary measures?
I’m monitoring the activities of the Montenegrin govt with great joy. Preventive measures were introduced quickly and resulted in positive outcomes. As a result, now we –Montenegro and the entire central Europe – have a significantly lower level of Covid-19 patients than Western Europe.
I hope that measures taken to support the Montenegrin economy would have positive effects as well.
