A sharp rise in cases in Montenegro: 66 people have tested positive

According to available data of the Public Health Institute, another 66 people have tested positive for the coronavirus. New cases are from Podgorica (39), Rožaje (8), Berane (4), Tivat (3), Budva (3), Cetinje (3), Gusinje (3), Bijelo Polje (1) and Kotor (1). In addition, five people have recovered during the day – one Covid-19 patient from Cetinje and three from Berane. The number of active cases per 100.000 people is now 90.

“Over the past 24 hours, labs of the Public Health Institute completed the Covid-19 PCR testing on 445 samples and detected 66 positive cases,” the Institute announced.

Epidemiologists also found out that 20 newly detected cases were in close contact with someone already infected with the virus.

The coronavirus also killed two more people who had been treated in the Berane General Hospital. Therefore, the number of overall deaths from the virus from the beginning of June is eight.

Montenegro now records 570 active cases.
