So far, Agency for Investment has received 31 applications for entry in the register of citizens through the program of economic citizenship.
Decision on the economic citizenship came into force on 1 January 2019.
” No Montenegrin passport has been handed so far due to the epidemic situation and closure of borders”, Agency representatives explained.
The procedure of processing requests requires verification of the fulfillment of conditions stipulated in the Decision on the Criteria, manner and procedure of the selection of a person who meets requirements for Montenegrin citizenship.
“There’s also verification of international suitability. If licensed agents provide affirmative opinion, Ministry of Interior carried out verification”.
Currently, 6 tourism projects are on the list: Condo hotels “Kolašin Resort&Spa”, “Breza”, “Bjelasica 1450” and “K16” in Kolašin, while “Kraljičina plaža” in Budva and “Durmitor hotel and villas” in Žabljak will be following mixed model.
Representative of the Agency said that the coronavirus pandemic had slowed this project down.
“However, interest in the program is still huge. Preparation of applications is going as planned although closed borders are still main limiting factor”, Agency representatives said.
