In order to prove the brutality of police officers against “attacked protesters”, a shocking photo of a gunshot wound of a protester was released on the website “Freedom Requires People” (“Sloboda trazi ljude”) on Sunday afternoon at 2.18PM within the photo gallery “Injuries”.
It was, or was supposed to be an irrefutable proof that firearms were used in the turmoil after firing tear gas and the subsequent confrontations between the police and the demonstrators, Pobjeda daily carried.
The photo naturally followed the first manipulative reports of certain media in Montenegro and Serbia.
Thus, for example, the Belgrade-based “Blic” daily, quoting the news agency Tanjug, at the end of the report on developments in the Montenegrin Capital published on Sunday, carried the alarming news on the shootings in Podgorica.
It is not known whether publishing of the photo was aimed at proving journalists’ allegations.
However, the manipulation was revealed shortly after that. It turns out that the same picture had been published a few years earlier during events – in Kosovo.
Several years later, the same photo appeared as “a crucial evidence of criminal behaviour” of Montenegrin police.
After revealing the manipulation, the photo has been removed from the photo gallery on the website.
