Abazovic: DPS to guarantee repeating elections

Civic opposition has not officially responded to Democratic Front’s initiative for holding a meeting of the opposition leaders and in order to define common conditions for negotiations with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) on returning to the Parliament, Pobjeda newspaper learns.

DF sent the invitation to other opposition entities on Friday, asking for their unique response to the current political situation as well as the response to an earlier prime minister Dusko Markovic’s offer for returning to Parliament.

The candidate for the URA Civic Movement’s president, MP Dritan Abazovic, did not want to comment on DF’s invitation, but requested DPS’s pledge that parliamentary elections will be repeated.

“If DPS wants a dialogue with the opposition, we will accept it, but on condition that we get firm guarantees that general elections will be repeated no later than the presidential elections. It would include repeating local elections in Niksic,” Abazovic told Pobjeda.

Commenting on the DPS political director Tarzan Milosevic’s statement that DPS was ready for talks with the opposition, Abazovic said that dialogue should be initiated in terms of preparing early elections.

“In this way, all dilemmas from the elections in 2016 would be avoided,” said Abazovic.

According to him, local elections in Niksic should also be repeated because “the way they are planned makes the electoral process nonsensical”.

Earlier agreed  opposition’s stance is that the best option is calling for early parliamentary elections simultaneously with the presidential, in 2018. If DPS is not ready for organising early parliamentary elections, then there is no basis to open any dialogue, Abazovic concluded.
