At today’s session of the National Security Council, the outgoing Prime Minister, Dritan Abazovic, dismissed Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, Ranko Konjevic, from the position of chief coordinator of the Bureau for Operational Coordination, BOK. Mr Abazovic made a statement following the session of the council which lasted almost 5 hours.
Speaking about tobacco smuggling, the PM said they concluded that this was the most profitable illegal business in Montenegro, and that they needed to disclose it somehow.
“The situation with a truck is only part of a grand scheme. In my opinion, we should support both the SDT and VDT to continue with their activities and investigations. It’s not only about one truck.”
The Prime Minister also noted that they would try to get a solution for incineration of all those cigarettes.
As for allegations regarding dismissal of the Head of the Revenues and Customs Administration, Rade Milosevic, he said: “It’s not true. I talked to some ambassadors. I’m sorry that the ANB can’t become a media company. Montenegro can’t allow anyone outside it to make decision on behalf of the government. I visited the ANB because of the Russian impact, not to discuss tobacco smuggling.”
