If any party that gained citizens’ votes based on an opposition platform would supported the government in the Parliament on 25 January, Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic would introduce political corruption in the state Parliament and thus rounded out the institutional violence.
“I think that Djukanovic and his DPS have miscalculated it this time. By a series of their own mistakes, they increasingly degrade their credibility and they should be encouraged to continue. This is a sure path towards changes,” said Abazovic.
As he said, this government lost confidence long ago, and the question is whether it had ever had it, given that the elections were not fair.
“During government’s mandate many important laws failed and since the presidential election, there has been a classical forced creating of majority in the Parliament. If Montenegro had a serious government, it would have resigned long ago, without waiting to be saved or overturned by an entity that lost its legitimacy long ago and has not been supported by even 1% of citizens. On second thought, maybe it is just that the fate of the Government depends on marginal political entities. It speaks volumes on real strengths and credibility of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and, in my opinion, there is no bigger failure for Djukanovic than the fact that his government depends on the party that, according to opinion polls, has not even 1% popular support,” Abazovic said.
He also answered what would happen if Djukanovic’s government got support from a certain party such as Positive Montenegro.
“In this way, Djukanovic would introduce political corruption in the state Parliament and thus rounded out the institutional violence. Thus, he would humiliate the state of Montenegro and its citizens once again, but this time in a drastic way. The closer the voting day is, the more I am convinced that the government will fall or that there will be a “plan B”. Regardles the result, I think that Djukanovic and his DPS have miscalculated this time. With a series of their own mistakes, they increasingly degrade their credibility, so they should only be encouraged to do so. This is a sure path to change,” Abazovic said.
He believes that the SDP has not many options.
“They have been backed into a political corner and they can get out of it only by good will of opposition political groups. Their decisions are increasingly less important. Simply, they missed the boat. In any case, they are welcome to join the civic block for changes, if they decide to leave the government. You have to admit, they cannot be trusted until it really does turn out that they actually voted against the government,” Abazovic concluded.
