Parents of children under the age of 11, who reached an agreement with their employer on the use of paid leave in September, are entitled to compensation, and so far this right has been used by over 1000 parents, based on the conclusion of the Government of Montenegro from 28 August. Requests for compensation for the used September leave can be submitted to the Ministry of Economy by the end of October. However, in order for this possibility of parents to be made certain in the next period, i.e. to be obligatory for every employer whose employee wants to exercise this right in the next period, a special act or order will be issued. The drafting and adoption procedure will be launched today.
This is the conclusion of today’s meeting between the Ombudsman, Mr Siniša Bjeković and Deputy Ms Snežana Mijušković, Minister of Health, Mr Kenan Hrapović, Minister of Education, Mr Damir Šehović, Minister of Economy, Ms Dragica Sekulić and representatives of the Secretariat for Legislation.
“Namely, on August 28, immediately after announcing the postponement of the school year, the Government of Montenegro reviewed and adopted information which, among other things, states:” Due to the postponement of the beginning of the school year, September salaries will be subsidized to employees for the care of children up to the age of 11, in proportion to the earned income, up to a maximum of 50 percent of the net minimum wage and 50 percent of the amount of taxes and contributions to the minimum wage. ” This document and the conclusion of the Government have been published on the official website of the Government of Montenegro “, it is said in the joint statement of the Ministries of Health, Education, Economy and the Ombudsman Institution.
In order to avoid disputes between the employee and the employer, i.e. in order for this possibility to be imperative for every employer whose employee wants to use it, and in order to avoid any doubts and impossibility for parents to exercise this right, it was agreed to issue a special order to further address this issue. They note that the drafting procedure will start today.
