In an interview for TVCG, Arab investor Mohamed Alabbar expressed strong interest in Montenegro’s economic development potential, citing the region’s underdevelopment compared to Western Europe as an opportunity for growth. He emphasized the importance of environmental protection and said he is excited about the idea of investing, though no concrete project has been initiated yet.
Alabbar clarified that during his visit to Ulcinj, he requested only one tender, not the entire 13 km coastline. He also revealed that the initial investment plan would be around €2.5bn, spread over 10–15 years, but the total economic impact could exceed €40bn in the long term.
He mentioned that former Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic approached him in Dubai and brought up Long Beach as a possible investment site. However, Alabbar noted that no follow-up occurred, which led him to question the seriousness of the offer.
