The Agency for Prevention of Corruption, APC, makes no difference between the government and the opposition. As for us, all political entities have certain legal liabilities and we are monitoring their fulfillment, Mr Luka Anđelić, acting director of APC, told Dan daily.
This is what he answered when asked to say about his plans for making the election process completely fair, as APC would, most certainly, be called on to act in favor of the Democratic Party of Socialists, DPS, and at the expense of the opposition groups. Mr Anđelić promises that they are going to fully implement all prescribed competences arising from the law on financing political entities and election campaigns.
“We will control political entities, their activities, collected funds and costs during the campaigns, and will subject them to supervision over compliance with all prescribed restrictions and limitations in the use of public resources during the campaign. In case of an appeal or suspicions about the violation of legal limitations, we will launch the relevant proceedings.“
On criticism that the DPS greatly affects APC’s decisions and that they [APC] are not transparent enough or are rather selective in the application of laws, as the European Commission, EC, itself noted, Mr Anđelić said that they have been monitoring the EC reports as each one of their analyses was important and constructive.
“Those reports also mentioned many positive aspects, but reflected on challenges as well, noting that the APC should further upgrade and improve its work. We also received guidelines, i.e. recommendations of the EC, and will focus on them in the coming period.“
