And so the bridge reconstruction countdown begins…

By the end of May or beginning of June, the Ministry of Trade of the People’s Republic of China is supposed to verify the feasibility study for the donor project for reconstruction of the Đurđevića Tara bridge. Chinese govt generously donated over €2.64m to its Montenegrin counterparts for the reconstruction project.

On 3 May 2017, the two governments signed the agreement on economic and technical cooperation, thus awarding a grant amounting to 20 million Chinese yuan.

From 3th Dec. to 22nd Dec. an expert team consisting of members of Chinese Ministry of Trade and China Communications Construction Company, CCCC, examined and recorded the environment surrounding the bridge and also gathered all the necessary information for drafting the reconstruction feasibility study.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, MORIT, has already issued urban and technical conditions for bridge reconstruction.

The CCCC submitted the feasibility study to Chinese Ministry of Trade in the end of February. “We have been informed that the feasibility study is likely to be verified by the Ministry of Trade of the People’s Republic of China by the end of May of beginning of June 2018 at the latest. They also told the awarded grant in the amount of 20 million Chinese yuan won’t be enough for project implementation,” Montenegrin govt claims in a statement.

Chinese counterparts earlier proposed awarding a 20-million-yuan worth grant, whereas the Embassy of China in MNE has authorizations to sign a new agreement on economic and technical cooperation with the govt of Montenegro, in order to accelerate procedures for project implementation.
