Pressures on Montenegro will be even greater as the parliamentary election is approaching, and will reflect on fake news and misinformation that aim to sparkle tension and create basis for reconsidering the introduction of the transitional govt, as it’s the main goal of the Montenegrin opposition, a Belgrade journalist, Mr Jakša Šćekić, told Dnevne Novine daily.
He reminded that the leader of the Democratic Front (DF) Andrija Mandić publicly told the press in Serbia that it was the main goal of their fierce opposition to the religious freedom law which regulates the religion issue in Montenegro.
Mr Šćekić said: “The opposition’s goal is evident, but the problem is that it comes from the Serbian Orthodox Church, SPC, which is aware that by passing the Law on Freedom of Religion, Montenegro is finally shaping its identity. Now when the church has interfered, Russia also started to meddle in Montenegro’s affairs as its aim is to internationalize the church issue and thus destabilize Montenegro and North Macedonia as well. The Russians are using every possible opportunity to derail NATO in the region.”
Serbia would, according to him, have to do everything in its power to minimize mayhem in the streets, while the open issues referring to the religion law should be left with lawyers, historians and neutral parties.
“Anti-Montenegrin hysteria definitely exists in Serbia, that’s not good and the question is how it will all end. Because whenever the SPC and Serbian nationalists took care of Serbs beyond Serbian borders, Serbia was at a loss.”
