In the last year, the Montenegrin police punished around 30 drivers for driving children younger than 12 in the front seat. Drivers were fined from €90 to €250.

According to the law, children under 12 can’t sit in the front seat. There’s an exception for children of up to three years of age who can be seated in the child seat in the front.

“I have to tell you that I’ve noticed that some drivers drive the kids behind the wheel of a car, sitting on their lap as they drive,” Milanko Damjanovic, the traffic expert, says.

“We lack staff, but we’re trying hard to warn drivers and point out to the consequences of Cush behavior”, Dalibor Baltic of the Traffic Police states.
