Even though the German discounter Lidl recently bought a plot in the City Kvart neighbourhood in Podgorica for 3.73 million euro, it’s still unknown whether they’re going to come to Montenegro. The company told the public broadcaster, RTCG, that they were analysing the market. According to analysts, the arrival of the German-owned supermarket chain would increase competitiveness and most likely make Montenegrin businessmen raise the pay for their staff.
“Lidl is constantly examining the possibility to expand, is analysing the terms of entering a market and the potentials of buyers on a new market. Right now, we can’t tell you more about our potential target countries, localities of our shops and the dates of opening,” this company said.
Nevertheless, Montenegrin government recently confirmed that the German discount supermarket would come to Montenegro.
