One of the most important requirements for getting a contract of employment for “ordinary” positions is a certificate issued by the Serbian Orthodox Church, SPC, which guarantees an employer, that is, the new government, that a candidate used to take part in street processions in 2020, writes Pobjeda daily.
Hundreds of “participants of religious processions” got a job over the past months thanks to those certificates, while hundreds are waiting, suggests the article published by Pobjeda.
The Church started to issue certificates to participants of religious processions immediately after the 2020 parliamentary election in order to be able to prepare for the new government and promised engagements.
One of Pobjeda’s interlocutors who was issued the certificate said: “First we have to contact the party bodies of the Democratic Front and the Democrats in our cities, and after the insight into our certificate, they forward us to state-owned companies that we should contact and talk about the engagement.”
For now, the new government keeps its promise and is recruiting the unemployed participants of street processions.
