An average salary in February was…

An average salary (taxes and social welfare contributions not included) in February was €511, as well as in January, the Monstat national statistics agency reports.

Compared to the same month last year, the average salary rose 4.1%, whereas it was 2.4% higher than an average net salary in 2016.

The average gross salary in February amounted to €767.

Bearing in mind that consumer prices in February compared to January last year rose 0.1%, the real net salaries in the same period fell 0.1%.

Compared to January last year, average net salaries in February rose in the following sectors: accommodation and food services – 6.5%, arts, entertainment and recreation – 2.4%, finance and insurance – 2.2%, professional, scientific and technical activities – 2%, administrative and support services – 1.9%, education – 1.7%, electricity supply – 1.6%, agriculture, forestry and fishing – 1.5%, information and communication – 1.3%, processing industry – 0.5%, transport and warehousing – 0.4% and public administration and defence – 0.3%.

The fall was recorded in the sectors of: real estate – 5.2%, wholesale and retail – 3.9%, water supply and waste water management – 3%, mining and quarrying – 2.9%, other services – 2.8%, construction – 0.7% and health and social welfare – 0.4%.
