Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property Slaven Radunovic is against changes to the law that would transfer the responsibilities of the Agency for the Coastal Zone Management to the hands of coastal municipalities. He said this at yesterday’s press conference, announcing a new tender for renting beaches by the end of the week.
Earlier, Mayor of Herceg Novi Stevan Katic told TVCG that the current leaseholders of the beaches on the Montenegrin coast should have extended their contracts with annexes this year, and not go for a new tender, before the amendments to the Law on Agency for the Coastal Zone Management are adopted.
The law amendments state that coastal cities will be responsible for managing the coastline.
On the other hand, relevant minister Slaven Radunovic is against such proposals. Answering a question yesterday, he said that this entire process proved that returning the Agency under the jurisdiction of the municipalities would be disastrous for Montenegro.
Radunovic announced yesterday that the tender for renting the beaches would be called for by the end of the week, and that he expected Montenegro to have new lessees as early as 20 or 25 March or 2025.
Based on this, he expects revenues ranging from €15m to €30m.
