The Democrats of Aleksa Becic will not return to Parliament even if the Democratic Front’s initiative for supreme state prosecutor Ivica Stankovic’s dismissal is on the agenda.
Namely, DF has collected signatures of its 18 MPs for initiating dismissal of Stankovic due to, as the party put it, “persecution of DF”. The MPs called on the rest of the opposition to support them, because 25 MPs’ signatures are needed to launch the initiative in Parliament. Two thirds of MPs shall vote for the initiative in order to pass it.
The civic opposition swiftly responded to the DF’s initiative. Even if the 25 signatures for launching the initiative are collected, its MPs will not return to Parliament.
“As long as the Democratic Party of Socialists does not meet our demands, we continue the boycott. We are not going back to Parliament. We will not comment on the DF’s requests,” the Democrats told CdM.
Dritan Abazovic confirmed that the URA Civic Movement would not return to the assembly either. The party will continue the boycott, although its representatives believe that supreme state prosecutor Ivica Stankovic’s work is almost invisible and that he must be replaced.
The Socialist People’s Party (SNP) says that it will not return to Parliament either.
CdM has not been able to get a comment from Ranko Krivokapic’s SDP. The portal unofficially learns that Demos will not end boycott due to this initiative.
DF sources unofficially said they were not surprised by the civic opposition’s response.
